Hemp seed hearts offer 17 different amino acids including 8 of the 10 essential ones. This protein is relatively high in cysteine and methionine, which are two sulfur- bearing amino acids that vegetable proteins usually lack. The protein in our hemp seed hearts is highly digestible. This is due to the high concentration of amino acids contained in hemp seeds.
A study published in 2010 in the “Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry” tested the protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score (PDAAS) of hemp seed. This rating determines the bio-availability of a protein. The results scored hemp seed hearts as greater or equal to many other grains, nuts, seeds and legumes.
