Jim Rogers of Jackfish Lake, Saskatchewan, is growing a new kind of crop of this year – hemp. He is hoping to reap the benefits of this profitable crop that is growing in popularity in Canada’s agriculture industry. Rogers did some calculations and expects his hemp crop will earn him twice as much as his traditional canola crops.
Rogers has joined the growing hemp industry, and advocates claim hemp has a bright future in the food industry.
Hemp oil is great for making salad dressings, and for drizzling on top of popcorn in place of butter. Hemp seed hearts are delicious additions to many foods such as salads, smoothies, nutrition bars, or sprinkled over porridge or your favourite breakfast cereal.
