A New Zealand company producing Hemp as Medicine is pleased about the government’s decision to allow expansion of the industry, and increased accessibility.
The proposed Misuse of Drugs Amendment Bill presented this week, is in favour of increasing New Zealand’s domestic hemp industry and making medicinal cannabis products more available.
Manu Caddie of Hikurangi Hemp, remarks on how this will benefit those who use medicinal cannabis as treatment, as it will make the product more affordable, available, and also, with the safety verification from doctors, will ensure a better quality of product.
Hikurangi Hemp already grows and produces hemp for medicinal research purposes. The new legislation will grant permission for cannabinoids to be extracted from hemp plants grown in New Zealand, and then processed into medicine that can be sold both domestically and globally.
