The value of Hemp as Medicine has Costa Rica’s hemp industry making headway, as first CBD products gain approval.
It began last year, with a legal organization obtaining the first authorization for CBD products. CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It has many therapeutic benefits, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, seizure-suppressant, and pain-reliever. Since then, other CBD products have gained authorization.
These CBD products include supplements, cosmetics, and food products. The authorization permits the advertisement and sales of the products. The ministry of health allows these products as long as they do not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
The ministry’s approval of CBD products means that Costa Rica is getting on board with the global industry. This could help give the country a much-needed economic boost.
