New Zealanders are not yet able to reap the benefits of Hemp Nutrition, but their government is working towards changing that.
The NZ government now recognises the nutritional benefits of hemp – it’s loaded with nutrients, high in dietary fibre, and contains the essential fatty acids – and wants to amend the hemp laws to make it legal for human consumption.
Although it is presently legal to grow hemp for industrial purposes and for the production of hemp oil, hemp food products are still illegal. This is due to hemp’s close resemblance to marijuana.
Hemp and marijuana are both cannabis, but they are different strains and very different plants.
