The College of Central Florida has Hemp in the News with its recently granted license to grow hemp, the first of its kind in the state.
The Florida Department of Agriculture made the announcement on April 14. The Vintage Farm Campus in Ocala is now permitted to teach students the production and cultivation of industrial hemp.
The hemp industry is very new to Florida, having grown only two cycles thus far. As the third growing season begins, associate professor Tavis Douglass and his students are learning together, the science of a most successful hemp crop.
