A major achievement in Australia’s Northern Territory has Hemp in the News with the announcement of its first industrial hemp growing licence. By setting their hemp industry in motion, the Northern Territory (NT), should get a much-needed economic boost.
The NT Agribusiness Minister Nicole Manison is optimistic that this will expand employment and open up new doors for manufacturing and export. NT’s economy has been struggling, and Manison says this new industry is an exciting opportunity to diversify the economy.
The NT has a unique advantage with regards to hemp cultivation. With their dry winter months, the region will be able to grow hemp seed for the rest of Australia to grow in the summer.
