The world’s unanimous agreement that hemp should be removed from the list of controlled substances, has Hemp in the News this week.
Keith Jones, President of the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance (CHTA), said there is international consensus among hemp associations around the world. For the sake of hemp’s health benefits, the livelihood of farmers, and the global economy, hemp should now be removed from the list of controlled substances.
The CHTA and its partners have been working to bring key hemp producers together, to share information and create a global standardization for hemp regulation. A significant barrier in the hemp industry, is that its regulations are not consistent across the globe. In some countries it has become an agricultural commodity, but in others it is still classified as a narcotic. This makes international trade challenging.
Hemp associations around the world have banded together to create a foundation of guidelines for governments, that they can each propose to their individual authorities. Their mission is to create one set of rules for the hemp industry worldwide.
