A French natural fibre company, Geochanvre, has developed a compostable face mask that has put Hemp in the News. It is the first of its kind in Europe.

Being compostable, these masks will help curtail the plastic waste from personal protective equipment during the covid pandemic. Experts say the single-use gear will take centuries to decompose on land, and more than 400 years to decompose in the oceans.

The hemp masks have been manufactured since March. So far, the majority of the 1.5 million sales have been from Europe and Canada.
