Tribal leaders from across the U.S. put Hemp in the News this week. They met with researchers from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the University of Minnesota to discuss the benefits and future of hemp.

This is the third annual Indigenous Hemp Conference. The Anishinaabe Agriculture Institute at White Earth has included this in the Indigenous Farming Conference.

Keynote speaker Winona LaDuke, spoke of many things including the possible future of hemp as the base of a new green economy. Other speakers from the southwest (Apache, Hopi and Navajo), spoke of the gains that could be made in healing the Earth from such things as uranium mining and desertification.
