A Stunning & Healthy Remake of an Old-Fashioned Family Favourite

Out with the marshmallows sugar blast that sends your blood sugars soaring. Instead this hemp hearts recipe offers natural and low glycemic index sweeteners combined with hemp and nut proteins gives your body a slow rising energy boost, and brown rice cereal replaces the empty carbs of regular crispies.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups brown rice syrup or coconut syrup
2/3 cups tahini or almond butter
2 tbsp. coconut oil
1 tbsp. vanilla
9 cups crispy brown rice cereal
1 cup hemp hearts
1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. cocoa powder (opt.)
1/2 cup Goji berries or dried cranberries (opt.)

Directions:

Line baking pan with ext. long sides parchment paper. In saucepan, heat syrup over med. heat and stir until it begins to bubble a bit. Remove from heat and stir in butter. oil, vanilla and cocoa (if using). The mixture will thicken and become glassy and elastic, like caramel taffy.

Put rice cereal, hemp hearts and goji berries (if using) in a large heat-safe bowl. Carefully pour in warm syrup mixture and stir with wooden spoon til all combined.

Scoop into lined baking pan and spread evenly. Cover with parchment paper and place in fridge to chill.

Makes 16 squares.
